Agency Website
for Strakes
Strakes is a digital marketing agency that helps direct-to-consumer fashion brands turn paid media into a profitable growth engine through creative strategy, data-led optimisation, and full-funnel execution.
As the agency was developing its positioning, it approached me to design and build a marketing website that could communicate this approach while showcasing its growing portfolio of client work. The website needed to feel as considered and performance-focused as the campaigns Strakes creates, with a visual identity that reflected its focus on attention, movement, and growth.
The project covered the design and development of a WordPress website, including visual language, campaign presentation, and motion design.
Starting Point: Directing Attention
The whole project took 4.5 weeks from the initial consultation and research tot the final website.
The name Strakes provided the starting point for the visual concept.
Strakes are aerodynamic surfaces found on aircraft and high-performance cars. Their purpose is to redirect the flow of air, helping the vehicle move more efficiently. The same principle underpins the agency’s work: strategically designed creative assets direct the flow of online attention towards its clients and their offerings.
This idea became the foundation for the website’s visual language. Lines and moving patterns represent the direction of traffic, while the campaign cards act as points of focus within that movement.
A Portfolio Built Around Movement
The website presents Strakes’ previous campaigns through a series of stylised ad cards, a selection of which first appears in the hero section. As the user scrolls the cards move through an animated transition, creating a responsive interaction that gives the opening section a sense of momentum.
GSAP was used to control the cards’ movement and positioning, and each card is designed to feel like an advertisement in its own right, allowing the work to appear within the same visual language as the campaigns the agency creates.
Moving Through the Interface
Animation also plays an important role in expressing the idea of directed attention.
The line patterns suggest streams of traffic moving through the page. Their direction and rhythm create a sense of flow, guiding the eye between the main content areas and reinforcing the relationship between the agency’s name and its work. Animation is used selectively.
The patterns were created using Lottie animations, allowing them to remain lightweight and responsive.
A Flexible WordPress Foundation
The website was deliberately built in WordPress, giving the Strakes team a flexible way to manage campaign content and update the site over time.
The structure was designed to support new client work while maintaining the visual logic of the existing campaign cards. While, the content system supports the website’s editorial and promotional needs while keeping the animated elements, card layouts, and visual patterns consistent across the experience.
